Artist’s note: The works were commissioned to accompany essays exploring the political legacy of the disastrous Bush administration. The paintings were executed in the former President’s self-taught painting style. The first painting was reversed horizontally for publication while the last painting of Hamid Karzai did not make it into the issue.
